“Leave it as it is. You cannot improve on it. The ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it. What you can do is to keep it for your children, your children’s children, and for all who come after you, as the one great sight which every American should see.” – Theodore Roosevelt

After catching your first views of the massive structure, check in for an overnight stay at Hoover Dam Lodge and Casino. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge restaurant, the Big Horn Café. Located within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the resort is just minutes from the shores of scenic Lake Mead against the backdrop of dramatic red rock canyons. D

DAY 2: LAKE MEAD

Enjoy a special calm-water rafting experience on the Colorado River starting at the base of Hoover Dam. Look up at the tallest concrete arch dam in United States, towering almost 730 feet above the river and creating the primary water source for Las Vegas and its surrounding communities. Float down the river through the canyons and under the bypass bridge as cars pass high overhead. Off the water and back on the road, continue east into Grand Canyon National Park and unpack your bags for a special 2-night stay at Maswik Lodge just two blocks from some of the most dramatic views of the South Rim. For 3 days and 2 nights, be immersed in the majesty of one of the most recognizable natural wonders on earth. B, D

DAY 3: GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK

There may be no better place on earth to watch the sunrise than the Grand Canyon. Just a short distance from your door, see the colors come to life as the sun peers over the canyon walls and awakens the desert below. See for yourself why early Grand Canyon explorer John Wesley Powell said, “the wonders of the Grand Canyon cannot be adequately represented in symbols of speech itself.” Join a local guide for a tour of the scenic East Rim Drive and Mather Point before a free afternoon to explore the inspiring beauty all around. Enjoy dinner in the park lodge. B, D

DAY 4: LAKE POWELL

After enjoying one more Grand Canyon sunrise, depart for the town of Page and Lake Powell. Created by the country’s second largest concrete arch dam, Glen Canyon Dam, Lake Powell is an important water reservoir for the Southwest and a popular vacation area. Enjoy a fine dining experience at Sunset 89 overlooking Glen Canyon before arriving for an overnight stay at the Best Western View of Lake Powell. B, D
