DAY 1: FLY TO DENVER
Arrive in Denver and head south through the mountains of Colorado Springs to the town of Pueblo for dinner and an overnight stay. D
DAY 2: GREAT SAND DUNES NATIONAL PARK
Visit Great Sand Dunes National Park, one of the country’s youngest parks featuring North America’s tallest sand dunes. Colorado may be known for massive peaks, but here the dunes steal the show. At over 750 feet high, these incredible dunes are taller than the Gateway Arch and twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. Sitting against the backdrop of Colorado’s alpine mountains, the scenery is often described as “otherworldly.” Continue to downtown Alamosa for dinner at San Luis Valley Brewing Company and an overnight stay. B, D
DAY 3: BLACK CANYON OF THE GUNNISON NATIONAL PARK
Travel through scenic central Colorado and across the Continental Divide to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, named for how little sunlight reaches the floor of the steep canyon. Enjoy the breathtaking view at Gunnison Point along the South Rim, over 2,700 feet up from the Gunnison River carving through the canyon below. This remote park was established in 1999 and remains one of the hidden gems in the National Park System, lesser-known and lesser-visited than most other parks in the continental United States. Check in for 2-nights at the base of the Cimarron Mountains in Montrose. B, D
DAY 4: TELLURIDE
Spend the day at one of the great mountain towns in the Rockies, Telluride. Tucked into a box canyon surrounded by massive peaks, this scenic city boasts a historic downtown area from it’s mining days as well as the #1 rated ski resort in America according to Conde Nast Traveler. Enjoy plenty of time to explore the downtown strip before heading up the Telluride Gondola to almost 10,000 feet elevation. At the top enjoy the modern community of Mountain Village, a registered city of Colorado first incorporated in 1995. Enjoy European-style architecture, shops, and restaurants at the top of the Rocky Mountains. Return to Montrose. B, D
DAY 5: CANYON COUNTRY
Continue West and watch as the rugged mountain peaks transform into majestic red rocks. Enjoy lunch in the heart of downtown Grand Junction before a scenic driving tour through the winding canyons of the Colorado National Monument. Watch for bighorn sheep and soaring eagles as you wind your way along Rim Rock Drive. Arrive in Moab for a delicious Dutch Oven Dinner before boarding a relaxing and inspiring evening boat ride along the Colorado River. Known as the “Sound and Light Show,” watch as the colors and sounds of the surrounding canyons come alive for an unforgettable experience. B, D
DAY 6: ARCHES NATIONAL PARK, ALL ABOARD!
Start the day with a morning tour through the world-famous Arches National Park. Our expert guide will explain the unique geological circumstances that resulted in over 2,000 sandstone arches being formed in this area, and explain the unique history of the area from petroglyphs to movie scenes. It’s “All Aboard” the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train for an afternoon departure to Glenwood Springs. Enjoy a delicious dinner and beverage while taking in the scenic views of Mount Garfield and stunning red rock formations, all from the full glass-dome windows in every direction. Overnight in Glenwood Springs. B, D
DAY 7: GLENWOOD SPRINGS TO DENVER
