Mary's "New York Encore"
November 3, 2025
The Big Apple, the City that Never Sleeps, the Empire City, the Five Boroughs. Or as I call it: home! Just a few months ago, I made the personal and professional decision to move from my hometown of St. Louis to New York City. I still happily work as Sunrise Tours’ Marketing Manager, but now remotely from the Northeast. So, why uproot my life in St. Louis and move to the hustle and bustle of NYC? Many of my reasons are perfectly captured in our New York Encore tour!

From the moment you arrive, (Hint: sit on the left side of the plane when facing the front, you’ll have the best views as you fly in!) you’ll see why New York is endlessly inspiring. The city’s energy is unlike anywhere else, and every block feels like its own little world. On day one, you’ll hit the ground running with a guided city tour that highlights the landmarks and neighborhoods that define the Big Apple. From Central Park to Times Square, there’s no shortage of sights, sounds, and stories. Our home base is the charming Hotel Beacon on the Upper West Side, one of my favorite neighborhoods. It’s full of tree-lined streets, cozy cafés, and a relaxed, residential feel just steps from all the action.
On day two, you’ll rise high above the city at the Empire State Building, taking in sweeping views of the city’s every angle, from Uptown to Downtown to Lady Liberty across the bay. Then, experience one of the most meaningful places in the city, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, a powerful tribute that never fails to move visitors and locals alike. Cap off the day with dinner overlooking the water, because yes, New York City has its share of stunning waterfront views, too!

Day three brings two more New York icons: the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Standing before Lady Liberty leaves you with a powerful feeling, and walking through the halls of Ellis Island feels like stepping back in time to the heart of America’s story. Afterward, the night lights up with a Broadway show, where the city’s creative spirit truly shines. Whether it’s a classic musical or a brand-new hit, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of a Broadway curtain rising. My favorite shows? Wicked and Hamilton.

On day four, the city becomes your playground. There’s no shortage of ways to fill a free day in NYC! You might catch a morning show taping at Rockefeller Plaza, stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge, browse the shops along Fifth Avenue, or simply grab a bagel or slice of pizza and people-watch in Central Park. However you spend it, your day ends with a farewell dinner and newfound friends who’ve experienced the magic of New York right along with you.

And when your final day in the city arrives, you’ll understand why so many of us love this city. It stays with you, one skyline view, one Broadway show, and one late-night slice at a time.
So, whether you’ve never been to New York City or you’re ready for an encore visit, this tour is your invitation to see the city that inspires me daily. Come experience my new home with Sunrise Tours on New York Encore!
