DAY 1: WELCOME TO CANADA!

Arrive in Calgary, AB, for a welcome dinner and overnight stay. D

DAY 2: CALGARY/BANFF NATIONAL PARK

Begin with a sightseeing tour along the route from Calgary to Banff with stops at various viewpoints for your first glimpse of the Canadian Rockies. Continue aboard the motorcoach to Banff, with stops along the way at the Surprise Corner and Bow Falls viewpoints. The breathtaking views will not stop here as you will take part in a tour of the Banff Gondola & Interpretive Centre and ascend Sulphur Mountain in an enclosed gondola cabin. The next two nights you will call Banff your home away from home. B, D

DAY 3: LAKE LOUISE/YOHO NATIONAL PARK/EMERALD LAKE

Morning sightseeing takes us to natural elements that have defined the look of this area of the Rocky Mountains. Highlights will include Lake Louise, Yoho National Park, and Moraine Lake, where the Valley of Ten Peaks offers breathtaking, unforgettable views. A feat to behold are the Spiral Railway tunnels–engineers circled the track to gain elevation, which results in freight trains crossing over themselves! Enjoy a lunch included at Emerald Lake Lodge, set on a private island amongst the beautiful turquoise waters of Emerald Lake. This afternoon, enjoy wandering the quaint streets of Banff before a relaxing dinner on your own. B, L

DAY 4: ICEFIELDS PARKWAY/COLUMBIA ICEFIELD

Today's journey is all about ice and awe as you travel north along the breathtaking Icefields Parkway from Banff to Jasper. Pause for photo stops at Bow Lake, Athabasca Falls, and the magnificent Columbia Icefields. At the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre, board an all-terrain Ice Explorer and venture onto the surface of the Athabasca Glacier, where you will step out and walk on the ancient ice itself. An unforgettable experience atop a glacier that feeds into three oceans, a true hydrological apex! B, L

DAY 5: JASPER

Set out on a guided sightseeing tour of the Jasper area, featuring the crystal-clear waters of Pyramid and Patricia Lakes and sweeping vistas from the Athabasca viewpoint. Cruise across the shimmering waters of Maligne Lake to visit the legendary Spirit Island — one of the most iconic and breathtaking sights in the Canadian Rockies. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore the charming town of Jasper at your own pace. B

DAY 6: ROCKY MOUNTAINEER RAILWAY TO KAMLOOPS

All aboard! Experience some of North America’s most stunning scenery while indulging in luxurious GoldLeaf service on the famed Rocky Mountaineer train. Guided by the Rocky Mountaineer team, take in the views of towering Mount Robson, the tumbling Pyramid Falls, and the winding North Thompson River. Enjoy local cuisine prepared directly on the train while viewing teal-green lakes, stunning glaciers, and snow-capped peaks. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer glides into Kamloops. B, L

DAY 7: ROCKY MOUNTAINEER RAILWAY TO VANCOUVER

Start this morning with a delicious farm-to-table breakfast aboard the Rocky Mountaineer. Passing into British Columbia’s interior towards the Pacific Coast, today’s journey features dramatic changes in scenery, as the desert-like environment of the interior gradually gives way to lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley. Scenic highlights include the thundering waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and, with a little luck, you might even spot a bear along the way! At the end of the day, disembark in the amazing city of Vancouver. B, L

DAY 8: GASTOWN/STANLEY PARK/ PUBLIC MARKET

This morning, experience Queen Elizabeth Park and Stanley Park, including its famous totem poles and Brockton Point Lighthouse. In Gastown, see the marvelous steam-powered clock, and Vancouver’s Olympic legacy at the Olympic Cauldron. At Granville Island’s Public Market, you can choose from a variety of local food vendors for lunch. This evening, you'll enjoy our Farewell to Canada dinner at a local eatery. B, D

DAY 9: FAREWELL

Transfer to the Vancouver International Airport, taking with you countless memories of your mountain and rail adventure! B

Helpful Hints
Walking on the Athabasca Glacier is a bucket list event. This Glacier is part of the Columbia Icefield consisting of multiple glaciers which feed into a unique “hydrological apex” where glacial meltwaters will flow into 3 oceans…Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic oceans! Now that is a wow moment!

Visiting Moraine Lake is incredibly scenic. Walking along the lake is stunning but you will also have the opportunity to climb approximately 140 steps up the moraine (rock pile) deposited by the Wenkchemna Glacier, to an eagle eye view of the lake. Bring your camera! This vantage point reveals the grandiose Valley of Ten Peaks and water that looks like turquoise ink.

In 2011, Jasper National Park was officially designated a Dark Sky Preserve. You will get the chance to view the night sky (and maybe aurora borealis) with significantly reduced light pollution for an unimpeded night sky.

Banff is one of Canada’s most beautiful destinations boasting a wealth of postcard mountainous views and a walkable downtown Banff Ave. main street full of shops and eateries. You can hop on the public and environmentally friendly hybrid ROAM bus (nominal fee) to travel all around Banff during your free evening on Day 3.

Identification
Since we are flying into Canada, you must bring along a valid passport for the duration of the tour.

Canadian Trip Information
The currency is the Canadian Dollar. Although credit cards are recommended for ease in monetary transactions, there will be places where you may convert your US currency to Canadian Dollars. Gratuities should be paid in the local currency whenever possible.

Like the USA, Canada uses 110 volts, 60 Hz. It is not necessary to use an adaptor or converter with appliances and devices that you use in the US. Please check with your carrier regarding cell phone service and fees.

Please note that Canada views any type of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) conviction as a serious offense. A past conviction of DUI will likely not allow one to travel into Canada. Should this be a concern, we suggest visiting the following website for information: http://www.cic.gc.ca.

Walking Distance
Moderate walking is required to fully enjoy this tour. Some walking will also be on uneven paths. While walking canes are allowed, we are unable to accommodate travelers using other mobility devices, including walkers and wheelchairs. Mountain elevations to which you might ascend may exceed 7,000 feet above sea level.

Each hotel has a hair dryer, iron, ironing board, and coffee maker. There are exercise, pool, and sauna facilities at most hotels.

Other General Information
We will send 3 key communications for your tour; “Get Ready” is your email confirmation and initial tour information sent upon registration, “Get Set” email will be sent about two months before departure, “Go” trip documentation mailing is sent via USPS 3-4 weeks before departure and will include your daily itinerary, luggage tags and final departure information.

Travel Protection is optional and highly recommended and can be purchased until the day before departure. We offer Travel Guard from AIG, which costs 8.5% of your tour, information about which will be sent with your Get Ready email.

Unless otherwise noted, your Sunrise Tour includes: Professional Sunrise Tour Director, meals as indicated, local step on guides including gratuity (international tour guide gratuity inclusion vary by tour), deluxe motorcoach transportation w/rest room, admission to activities and events as indicated, airfare from designated airports, transportation to/from designated airports from our convenient local pickup points*, luggage handling at hotels when available

We believe tipping is a personal and discretionary interaction between our guests and our staff. A typical gratuity for your Sunrise Tour Director and motorcoach driver may be $5-$7 per person, per day on tour. Sunrise Shuttle drivers appreciate gratuities (suggest $5 per person) for excellent service as well. Our staff will not solicit gratuities or pass out envelopes.

We are happy to offer refreshments on most motorcoach travel days on tour. We recommend you bring a refillable water bottle to maintain healthy hydration.

If less than 4 people request a pickup point, we may ask that you choose another pickup point from which to join your Sunrise Tour.

If you would like to join a tour from a city not listed as a departure point, we would love to have you along! Please discuss arrangements with our friendly reservation team. From a departure city not listed, typical airfare will be +$100 higher than our published fare for domestic tours, and +$200 for international tours.

If you have a TSA precheck or Airline Rewards numbers, you MUST give those numbers to our reservations team at least 60 days before departure, otherwise they may not be applied.

Preferred seating may not be available on group air. In some cases, seats are not assigned until the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy seat on the flight; it does not include seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available at an additional cost.

To help make our tours the most comfortable in the business, we limit Sunrise Tours motorcoaches to 80% capacity, or 44 passengers on a coach built for 55. We reserve the right to amend this practice. Some tours have a lower capacity; these are known as "small group experiences."

Your Tour Director will rotate seats on the motorcoach each day of your tour. A single fare does not guarantee two seats on coach; you may be seated next to another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
