DAY 1: WELCOME TO VIRGINIA!

Fly into Washington D.C. and journey south to the stirring National Museum of the United States Army. Explore powerful exhibits and treasured relics, including the First Rhode Island Regimental Flag—a bold symbol of Revolutionary courage. Arrive in Williamsburg and settle in for three nights at the beautifully appointed 4-star Williamsburg Lodge, where historic charm meets modern sophistication, nestled in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg. DAY 2: COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG

Step into a bygone era at Colonial Williamsburg, the nation’s grandest living history museum. Enjoy flexibility this morning by taking advantage of the included shuttle. This afternoon, dine by dimly lit pewter candlesticks, where the flavors of 1772 are served by servers dressed in period attire. DAY 3: YORKTOWN REMEMBERS

Continue your exploration of Virginia’s Historic Triangle, by visiting Jamestown to experience living history and historic trades in action before following the scenic Colonial Parkway to Yorktown Battlefield, where the fate of our nation was sealed. Walk the hallowed siege lines of Surrender Field and imagine the turning of the tide in 1781. At the American Revolution Museum, our expert guide brings the era to life with immersive exhibits, encampments, and authentic artifacts. B, D

DAY 4: JOURNEY TO THE GREENBRIER

Enjoy a morning stop at Richmond’s historic St. John’s Church before ascending to Monticello, the visionary mountaintop home of Thomas Jefferson. Stroll through history with a private guide—and perhaps meet Jefferson himself! Arrive at The Greenbrier, a 5-star National Historic Landmark renowned for its opulence and storied guest list of 28 U.S. presidents, royalty, and dignitaries since 1778. Uncover the Draper design legacy during an interior tour, then savor a refined dinner under sparkling chandeliers and impeccable service. Embrace more of what the resort offers with evening options including a cabaret in the Upper Lobby, a movie in the Theater, live music and dancing at the stylish 42 Below, and more. B, D

DAY 5: INDULGE AT THE GREENBRIER

Awaken to the grandeur of the Allegheny Mountains and indulge in a leisurely breakfast in The Greenbrier’s Main Dining Room. Go underground for a private tour of the once top-secret Bunker—a Cold War marvel built to shelter Congress. A leisurely afternoon affords time to peruse upscale boutiques, take a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh ride, try your hand at falconry, unwind at the spa, or explore the President’s Cottage Museum (some activities at additional cost). Tonight’s dinner is a celebration of taste and tradition (Dress code: Jacket may be required for gentlemen; cocktail or evening attire recommended for ladies). B, D

DAY 6: STAUNTON: FLAVOR & FOUNDING

Travel to Staunton, a vital crossroads during the Revolutionary War. Choose between two unique experiences: explore presidential legacy at the Woodrow Wilson Library or take a behind- the-scenes tour at Blackfriars Playhouse, a faithful recreation of Shakespeare’s indoor theater. Stroll Staunton’s vibrant Historic District, and peek in Trinity Episcopal Church to see the Tiffany windows and where the VA General Assembly met. Treat your senses to an interactive cheesemaking and wine-pairing private class at Barren Ridge Vineyards. Take in the gorgeous views of the Shenandoah Valley and arrive in Arlington, VA, for a farewell dinner and overnight. B, D

Mobility Note
Guests should be comfortable with extended walking and standing throughout Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Monticello and Staunton. Historic areas may include brick streets, gravel paths, uneven ground, inclines and steps. Many Colonial Williamsburg buildings have entrance steps, and upper floors may be reached by steep, narrow staircases. Complimentary shuttle service is available throughout the Historic Area.

Packing Tips
Pack comfortable walking shoes, removable layers, a light-to-medium jacket and a compact raincoat or umbrella. Spring temperatures may vary considerably between lower-elevation Williamsburg and the Allegheny Mountains. Guests should also pack resort-appropriate clothing for dinners and evening activities at The Greenbrier.

The Greenbrier maintains dress standards in many public areas and dining venues. Pack polished casual clothing in addition to the dressier attire noted for the included dinner. Men should bring a collared shirt, dress slacks and a jacket, while women may prefer a dress, skirt or dressy pants outfit. Denim, athletic wear, hats and shorts may be restricted in certain venues or at certain times.

Hotel Note
The four-star Williamsburg Lodge is located within Colonial Williamsburg, allowing guests to stay in the heart of the Historic Area rather than commuting from an outlying hotel. Its design and furnishings draw inspiration from Virginia’s colonial history while offering modern resort comforts.

The five-star Greenbrier is a National Historic Landmark and one of the most distinguished resort stays offered on a Sunrise tour. Its guest rooms and public spaces feature the bold colors, oversized patterns and dramatic contrasts associated with legendary designer Dorothy Draper.

Notes on Highlights
Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area covers more than 300 acres, so the included shuttle provides an especially useful way to move between attractions while preserving energy for tours and demonstrations.

The itinerary brings together Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown, collectively known as Virginia’s Historic Triangle. Guests experience the region where the first permanent English settlement was established, colonial life developed and the decisive final battle of the American Revolution took place.

Monticello sits on a mountaintop rather than beside its visitor center. An included shuttle transports guests uphill and can also stop near Thomas Jefferson’s gravesite on the return journey, reducing the need to climb the walking trail.

The Greenbrier’s unmistakable décor was created after World War II by Dorothy Draper, one of America’s most influential interior designers. Her exuberant style turned the resort itself into a design attraction, with each hallway and public room offering something new to notice.

The Greenbrier Bunker remained a closely guarded secret for approximately three decades. Built beneath the resort to house the United States Congress during a national emergency, it was hidden behind the everyday operations of a luxury hotel until its existence became public in 1992.

April brings the possibility of flowering dogwoods, redbuds, tulips and other spring color, but bloom timing depends on seasonal weather and cannot be guaranteed. The contrast between colonial gardens, Virginia countryside and the Allegheny Mountains gives the tour several distinctly different spring landscapes.

Other General Information
Tour Communications: You will receive three key communications leading up to your tour:

• Get Ready: Your email confirmation and initial tour information, sent after you register.
• Get Set: An email with additional tour details, sent approximately two months before departure.
• Go: Your final trip documents, mailed via USPS approximately three to four weeks before departure. This packet will include your daily itinerary, luggage tags, and final departure information.

Travel Protection: Travel Protection is optional but highly recommended and may be purchased until the day before departure. Sunrise Tours offers plans through battleface. Additional information will be included with your Get Ready email and can also be found HERE.

Inclusions: Unless otherwise noted, your Sunrise Tour includes:

• Admission to activities and events as indicated

Gratuities: We believe tipping is a personal and discretionary interaction between our guests and staff. A typical gratuity for your Sunrise Tour Director and motorcoach driver is $6 to $10 per person, per day of the tour. Sunrise Shuttle drivers also appreciate gratuities for excellent service, with a suggested amount of $5 per person. Our staff will not solicit gratuities or distribute gratuity envelopes.

Refreshments: We are happy to provide refreshments on most motorcoach travel days. We also recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to help you stay hydrated throughout your tour.

Pickup Points: If fewer than four travelers request a particular pickup point, we may ask those guests to select another available pickup location. Travelers are also welcome to join a tour from a city that is not listed as a departure point. Please contact our friendly reservations team to discuss available arrangements. For departure cities not listed, airfare is typically $100 more than the published fare for domestic tours and $200 more for international tours.

TSA PreCheck and Airline Rewards Numbers: TSA PreCheck, Known Traveler Numbers, and airline rewards numbers must be provided to our reservations team at least 60 days before departure. Numbers received after this deadline may not be applied to your reservation.

Airline Seating: Preferred seating may not be available with group airfare. In some cases, seats are not assigned until travelers arrive at the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy-class seat but does not include advance seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available for an additional cost.

Motorcoach Capacity and Seating: To provide one of the most comfortable motorcoach experiences in the industry, Sunrise Tours generally limits motorcoaches to 80% capacity. This allows for a maximum of 44 passengers on a motorcoach designed to accommodate 55. Sunrise Tours reserves the right to amend this practice. Your Tour Director will rotate motorcoach seating each day of the tour. Payment of a single-occupancy fare does not guarantee two motorcoach seats, and you may be seated beside another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
