Arrive in Palm Springs and enjoy dinner as a group. D

DAY 2: WIND FARM/CELEBRITY HOMES

This morning after breakfast, visit the San Gorgonio Wind Park, a mature project boasting four generations of technology and over two dozen types of turbines in operation. Then, learn the history and facts of the playground of the stars. See dozens of celebrity homes all right in the City of Palm Springs. Dean Martin, Liz Taylor, Debbie Reynolds, Marilyn Monroe, and dozens more came to bask in the warm sun and soak in the free and easy desert lifestyle. After lunch at a local country club, enjoy leisure time in Palm Springs. B, L

DAY 3: LIVING DESERT/DATE GARDEN

This morning it’s off to the Living Desert. Discover bighorn sheep, cheetahs, leopards, golden eagles, and Mexican wolves in a remarkable zoo and botanical garden representing the deserts of North America and Africa. After lunch at the Living Desert Zoo, head to a working date garden, home of the superb Medjool date and many other interesting date varieties. Learn about the date’s history and cultivation and taste some delicious samples. B, L

DAY 4: JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK/PALM SPRINGS

Today, we will visit nearby Joshua Tree National Park. Humans have occupied the area encompassed by Joshua Tree National Park for at least 5,000 years. See 1.5 billion year old rock walls thrust up by the San Andreas Fault. This wildlife sanctuary is home to coyotes, eagles, and Big Horn sheep. Have a tasty lunch before heading back to Palm Springs for a dip in the pool, or simply enjoy the many amenities the resort has to offer at your leisure. B, L

DAY 5: AERIAL TRAMWAY/WALK OF STARS/VILLAGE FEST

This morning, depart for Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Rise 2½ miles, taking a ten-minute ride up to the mountains on the world’s largest rotating tramcars and experience the threshold of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. Then, explore the historic palm-tree lined Palm Springs Walk of Stars. Walk among the golden palm stars of Marilyn Monroe, Bob Hope, Chevy Chase and others, embedded in the sidewalks. Savor a tasty lunch at a local California Bistro before visiting the Palm Springs Air Museum, which features one of the largest collections of flying WWII aircraft. Our veteran guide will share his experiences and will emphasize the importance of the Air Power in the victory of WWII. This evening if you’d like, join the locals downtown for Palm Springs Village Fest. Stroll the streets taking in the artisan booths, listen to a concert and enjoy delicious food. B, L
