DAY 3: GOLDENPASS TRAIN, CHOCOLATE & CHEESE

Start your Swiss adventure as you board the GoldenPass Panoramic Train and enjoy one of Switzerland’s most scenic rail journeys. Travel through picturesque countryside, mountain peaks, and charming villages. Later, discover the secrets behind Switzerland’s world-famous chocolate during a visit to Maison Cailler, complete with delicious tastings. The day continues in Gruyères with a visit to La Maison du Gruyère. See how authentic Gruyère cheese is produced and enjoy a traditional fondue lunch at the show dairy before returning to your hotel for dinner. B, L, D

DAY 4: LAKE GENEVA & LAVAUX VINEYARDS

Travel through the stunning Lavaux wine region, where UNESCO-listed terraced vineyards stretch above the shores of Lake Geneva. Enjoy beautiful views, a ride aboard the charming Lavaux tourist train, and a tasting of regional wines before continuing into the heart of the Swiss Alps. Arrive in the mountain village of Zermatt, nestled beneath the iconic Matterhorn, and check into your hotel for the next two nights. B

DAY 5: GORNERGRAT & THE MATTERHORN

Today you will ride the historic Gornergrat cogwheel railway and watch the mountain scenery unfold around you as you climb higher into the Alps. An unforgettable view awaits as you marvel at breathtaking views of the iconic Matterhorn and more than 25 snow-covered peaks. Take time to enjoy the surroundings before returning to Zermatt, where a traditional Swiss Raclette dinner awaits. B, D

DAY 6: ZERMATT TO INTERLAKEN

Enjoy some additional time to experience the charm and beauty of Zermatt, Switzerland’s most famous Alpine village. You may wish to browse the boutique shops, stroll the car-free streets, or simply sit back and enjoy the mountain scenery. Later, travel by shuttle train to Täsch and continue to Interlaken, beautifully situated between two mountain lakes. Upon arrival, settle into your hotel for the next three nights and enjoy a group dinner. B, D

DAY 7: WATERFALLS & MÜRREN

Travel to the remarkable Lauterbrunnen Valley. Surrounded by steep rock faces and towering waterfalls, this region offers some of Switzerland’s most striking alpine scenery. Visit Trümmelbach Falls, where powerful glacier-fed waters rush through narrow rock formations inside the mountain. Later, continue to the charming car-free mountain village of Mürren, beautifully situated high above the valley. Enjoy time to take in the peaceful alpine atmosphere, admire the mountain views, and take a leisurely stroll through the village. In the evening, a musical program provides a traditional and entertaining end to the day. B, D

DAY 8: JUNGFRAUJOCH, THE "TOP OF EUROPE"

Prepare for a truly special day as you travel to Jungfraujoch, known as the "Top of Europe," aboard the world-famous mountain railway. Home to Europe’s highest railway station, this remarkable destination offers glaciers, year-round snow, and far-reaching Alpine views. Visit the Ice Palace and enjoy unforgettable views from the Sphinx Observation Deck. Savor lunch surrounded by this extraordinary mountain setting before returning to Interlaken for dinner. B, L, D

DAY 9: EXPLORING LUCERNE

Another unforgettable rail journey awaits aboard the scenic Interlaken Express to Lucerne. Sit back and relax as mountain landscapes unfold along the route. Once in Lucerne, discover the city’s highlights on a guided city tour. See the Chapel Bridge, stroll through the charming Old Town, and enjoy the lakeside setting. Later, enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Lucerne before continuing to Zürich for dinner and an overnight stay. B, D

DAY 10: DISCOVER ZURICH

Discover Zürich, Switzerland’s vibrant financial and cultural center, during a guided tour of the city. Explore the historic Old Town, elegant Bahnhofstrasse, and the city’s welcoming lakeside atmosphere. This evening, a farewell dinner provides the perfect ending to this unforgettable Swiss journey. Mobility Note
Guests should be comfortable walking and standing on city tours, village streets, railway platforms and mountain attractions. Zermatt and Mürren are car-free villages, so some walking is necessary even when luggage transportation is provided. Trümmelbach Falls requires sturdy mobility, with wet and sometimes slippery paths, stairs and portions reached by a tunnel lift.

The high-altitude excursions can also make walking feel more strenuous. Guests should pace themselves, stay hydrated and use handrails where available.

Credit cards are widely accepted, but guests may appreciate carrying a small amount of Swiss currency for small purchases, restrooms or local shops.

Electrical Adapter
Switzerland primarily uses Type J electrical outlets and 230-volt power. Guests should bring a Switzerland-compatible adapter and verify that personal appliances are dual voltage.

Hotel Note
Everness Hotel & Resort is a four-star countryside property overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps. The hotel offers a wellness area and heated outdoor pool, giving guests a relaxing base for the first two nights.

The HEY Hotel is centrally located in Interlaken, approximately a five-minute walk from Interlaken West station. Its location places guests close to restaurants, shops and the town center during the three-night stay.

Notes on Highlights
The Gornergrat Railway opened in 1898 as Switzerland’s first electric cogwheel railway. During the 33-minute climb from Zermatt, the train rises through forests and alpine meadows before reaching a high-mountain landscape surrounded by glaciers and 29 peaks exceeding 13,000 feet.

Jungfraujoch sits at 11,332 feet and is reached by a railway that travels directly through the Eiger and Mönch mountains. From the top, guests can see the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps.

Trümmelbach Falls is actually a series of ten glacier-fed waterfalls hidden inside a mountain. During periods of heavy snowmelt, as much as 20,000 liters of water per second can thunder through the rock passages.

The Lavaux vineyard terraces have been cultivated for centuries on steep slopes above Lake Geneva. Traveling through the region by small tourist train allows guests to experience terrain that would otherwise require considerable uphill walking.

The contrast between the rail experiences is part of what makes this tour special. Guests ride panoramic trains through valleys and countryside, cogwheel railways climbing high into the Alps, local trains serving car-free villages and one of Switzerland’s most scenic lake-to-lake rail routes.

Switzerland’s rail system also allows this itinerary to reach places that a traditional motorcoach tour simply cannot, including car-free Zermatt and Mürren and the mountaintop stations at Gornergrat and Jungfraujoch.

Tour Communications: You will receive three key communications leading up to your tour:

• Get Ready: Your email confirmation and initial tour information, sent after you register.
• Get Set: An email with additional tour details, sent approximately two months before departure.
• Go: Your final trip documents, mailed via USPS approximately three to four weeks before departure. This packet will include your daily itinerary, luggage tags, and final departure information.

Travel Protection: Travel Protection is optional but highly recommended and may be purchased until the day before departure. Sunrise Tours offers plans through battleface. Additional information will be included with your Get Ready email and can also be found HERE.

Inclusions: Unless otherwise noted, your Sunrise Tour includes:

Gratuities: We believe tipping is a personal and discretionary interaction between our guests and staff. A typical gratuity for your Sunrise Tour Director and motorcoach driver is $6 to $10 per person, per day of the tour. Sunrise Shuttle drivers also appreciate gratuities for excellent service, with a suggested amount of $5 per person. Our staff will not solicit gratuities or distribute gratuity envelopes.

Refreshments: We are happy to provide refreshments on most motorcoach travel days. We also recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to help you stay hydrated throughout your tour.

Pickup Points: If fewer than four travelers request a particular pickup point, we may ask those guests to select another available pickup location. Travelers are also welcome to join a tour from a city that is not listed as a departure point. Please contact our friendly reservations team to discuss available arrangements. For departure cities not listed, airfare is typically $100 more than the published fare for domestic tours and $200 more for international tours.

TSA PreCheck and Airline Rewards Numbers: TSA PreCheck, Known Traveler Numbers, and airline rewards numbers must be provided to our reservations team at least 60 days before departure. Numbers received after this deadline may not be applied to your reservation.

Airline Seating: Preferred seating may not be available with group airfare. In some cases, seats are not assigned until travelers arrive at the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy-class seat but does not include advance seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available for an additional cost.

Motorcoach Capacity and Seating: To provide one of the most comfortable motorcoach experiences in the industry, Sunrise Tours generally limits motorcoaches to 80% capacity. This allows for a maximum of 44 passengers on a motorcoach designed to accommodate 55. Sunrise Tours reserves the right to amend this practice. Your Tour Director will rotate motorcoach seating each day of the tour. Payment of a single-occupancy fare does not guarantee two motorcoach seats, and you may be seated beside another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
