DAY 2: WEST YELLOWSTONE

Start your day with a visit to the Museum of Idaho to learn about the incredible history of this wild area. Continue to the west gates of Yellowstone National Park to enjoy dinner at the Branch Restaurant. B, D

DAY 3: YELLOWSTONE NORTHERN LOOP

Bring your camera for a great day in the world’s first National Park! Journey along the Northern Loop with a local guide to visit Mammoth Hot Springs and other iconic stops along the way. We’ll tour America’s wildest stretch of road, where bison, pronghorn, bighorn sheep, grizzly bears, and moose all roam. Yellowstone’s most famous residents— gray wolves—are often seen on the prowl. DAY 4: GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK

Today we depart West Yellowstone for more magical moments in Jackson, Wyoming. With the pristine Teton Mountains as your backdrop, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable scenic float down the Snake River. Then head deeper into Grand Teton National Park and check in for a special two-night stay at the iconic Jackson Lake Lodge, one of the premier lodges in the National Park system. B, L

DAY 5: YELLOWSTONE SOUTHERN LOOP

Yellowstone’s Southern Loop is home to the park’s most famous sites, including Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. An in-depth guided tour brings the park’s history, ecology, and geology to life as you pass from one remarkable site to the next. Return to Jackson Lake Lodge for dinner in the famous Mural Room with stunning views of the Tetons. B, D

DAY 6: NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WILDLIFE

Enjoy a leisurely morning at Jackson Lake Lodge before visiting the National Museum of Wildlife Art. Take in vistas of the National Elk Refuge as you stand face-to- face with life-size sculptures and experience wildlife through art of all kinds. B, D

DAY 7: CRATERS OF THE MOON

Visit the geological wonder of Craters of the Moon National Monument. Considered by many to be among the nation’s next National Parks, this area highlights the region’s unique volcanic activity. Then, we continue our travels to Salt Lake City. B, D

DAY 8: RETURN HOME

This morning, we head home with fond memories of these two unforgettable National Parks. B

Mobility Note
Guests should be comfortable walking and standing at scenic overlooks, geyser basins, museums and outdoor attractions, with surfaces that may include paved paths, boardwalks, gravel, inclines and uneven natural terrain. Yellowstone’s thermal areas must be explored from designated boardwalks and trails, which may include steps and limited seating. Guests should also be comfortable boarding the Snake River float trip and entering and exiting the motorcoach several times each day.

Much of the tour takes place above 6,000 feet, so guests may become winded more easily than at home. Staying hydrated and pacing yourself can help with the adjustment.

Packing Tips
Pack comfortable walking shoes with good traction, removable layers, a warm jacket, rain gear, sunscreen, sunglasses and a refillable water bottle. Yellowstone weather can change quickly, and rain, hail or even snow are possible during any month. A wind-resistant layer is useful for the Snake River float.

Hotel Note
The Holiday Inn West Yellowstone is located just two blocks from Yellowstone National Park’s West Entrance, making it an especially convenient base for the tour’s park sightseeing. Guests are also within easy reach of downtown West Yellowstone and the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.

Jackson Lake Lodge is located inside Grand Teton National Park on a bluff overlooking Jackson Lake, Willow Flats, and the Teton Range. Its enormous lobby windows were designed to frame the mountains like a living picture, making the lodge itself one of the highlights of the tour. The lodge is also a historic property with roots in John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s efforts to preserve the Jackson Hole landscape.

Notes on Highlights
Yellowstone contains more geysers and hot springs than anywhere else on Earth. The geothermal landscape sits above a massive volcanic system, creating the geysers, colorful hot springs, mud pots and fumaroles seen throughout the Southern Loop.

Yellowstone’s Northern Range is one of the best wildlife-viewing regions in the park. Bison, elk, pronghorn, bears and wolves may all be seen, although sightings are never guaranteed. Having a local guide greatly improves the experience because guides know seasonal wildlife patterns and productive viewing areas.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is approximately 20 miles long, with walls that reach more than 1,000 feet deep in places. The canyon’s yellow, orange and red colors come from hydrothermally altered volcanic rock rather than ordinary sandstone.

The Snake River float offers a quieter way to experience Grand Teton National Park, with views of the Teton Range from river level and opportunities to watch for bald eagles, moose, elk and other wildlife.

Jackson Lake Lodge’s Mural Room has panoramic views of the Teton Range from every table. Its ten large murals depict the 1837 fur-trapper rendezvous and connect the dining experience with the early history of the American West.

Craters of the Moon provides a dramatic final contrast to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Rather than mountains, geysers and forests, guests encounter black lava flows, volcanic cones and a landscape formed by repeated eruptions along Idaho’s Great Rift.

Tour Communications: You will receive three key communications leading up to your tour:

• Get Ready: Your email confirmation and initial tour information, sent after you register.

• Get Set: An email with additional tour details, sent approximately two months before departure.

• Go: Your final trip documents, mailed via USPS approximately three to four weeks before departure. This packet will include your daily itinerary, luggage tags, and final departure information.

Travel Protection: Travel Protection is optional but highly recommended and may be purchased until the day before departure. Sunrise Tours offers plans through battleface. Additional information will be included with your Get Ready email and can also be found HERE.

Inclusions: Unless otherwise noted, your Sunrise Tour includes:

Gratuities: We believe tipping is a personal and discretionary interaction between our guests and staff. A typical gratuity for your Sunrise Tour Director and motorcoach driver is $6 to $10 per person, per day of the tour. Sunrise Shuttle drivers also appreciate gratuities for excellent service, with a suggested amount of $5 per person. Our staff will not solicit gratuities or distribute gratuity envelopes.

Refreshments: We are happy to provide refreshments on most motorcoach travel days. We also recommend bringing a refillable water bottle to help you stay hydrated throughout your tour.

Pickup Points: If fewer than four travelers request a particular pickup point, we may ask those guests to select another available pickup location. Travelers are also welcome to join a tour from a city that is not listed as a departure point. Please contact our friendly reservations team to discuss available arrangements. For departure cities not listed, airfare is typically $100 more than the published fare for domestic tours and $200 more for international tours.

TSA PreCheck and Airline Rewards Numbers: TSA PreCheck, Known Traveler Numbers, and airline rewards numbers must be provided to our reservations team at least 60 days before departure. Numbers received after this deadline may not be applied to your reservation.

Airline Seating: Preferred seating may not be available with group airfare. In some cases, seats are not assigned until travelers arrive at the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy-class seat but does not include advance seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available for an additional cost.

Motorcoach Capacity and Seating: To provide one of the most comfortable motorcoach experiences in the industry, Sunrise Tours generally limits motorcoaches to 80% capacity. This allows for a maximum of 44 passengers on a motorcoach designed to accommodate 55. Sunrise Tours reserves the right to amend this practice. Your Tour Director will rotate motorcoach seating each day of the tour. Payment of a single-occupancy fare does not guarantee two motorcoach seats, and you may be seated beside another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
