DAY 1: WELCOME TO THE PLAINS!
The journey begins in Springfield, MO, picking up fellow adventurers along the way in Kansas City as old friends and new faces come together. Roll through the heartland of America to Kearney, NE, for dinner and rest. D
DAY 2: MAMMOTH DISCOVERY/BLACK HILLS
Continue north to a truly unique destination: the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, South Dakota. An active paleontological dig where you’ll see the bones of mammoths and other creatures, carefully preserved after 140,000 years. After a fascinating tour and time to explore, continue into the Black Hills to settle in for the night among the towering pines. B, L
DAY 3: MT RUSHMORE, DEVILS TOWER/SHERIDAN, WY
The morning begins with a visit to the majestic Mt. Rushmore. Mosey into Deadwood, a storied gold rush town, to enjoy lunch and explore its colorful streets. In the afternoon, marvel at the otherworldly Devil’s Tower, rising dramatically from the prairie; a site sacred to Native peoples and famous to movie fans alike. End the day in Sheridan, Wyoming, where the spirit of the Old West is evident all around. B, D
DAY 4: LITTLE BIGHORN/CODY, WY
Visit one of the most poignant battlefields of the West, Little Bighorn, where a private guide will bring to life the stories of Custer, Sitting Bull, and the clash of cultures that shaped our nation. Stop in Billings, Montana, for lunch and local flavor before heading back into Wyoming. The evening holds a real treat: dinner and a lively show at the famous Cody Cattle Company — a foot-stomping, toe-tapping experience you won’t forget! Check in for the first of two nights in Cody. DAY 5: BUFFALO BILL CENTER/HEART MOUNTAIN
The day begins with a visit to the incredible Buffalo Bill Center of the West — a world-class museum where you can explore the life of Buffalo Bill Cody, as well as Western art, Native cultures, natural history, and more. After an included lunch, experience the moving story of Heart Mountain Relocation Center, where Japanese Americans were interned during WWII — a site of resilience and reflection. The afternoon offers free time in Cody, perfect for shopping, relaxing, or exploring this historic town at your own pace. B, L
DAY 6: YELLOWSTONE SCENIC DRIVE
Enjoy a beautiful drive through Wyoming’s wild landscapes along the way to Cooke City, Montana, and the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone National Park; often called the most scenic entrance. Travel into the park and arrive at Canyon Village, where you’ll stay for two nights at the Canyon Lodge — surrounded by Yellowstone’s stunning natural beauty. B, D
DAY 7: FULL DAY GUIDED TOUR OF YELLOWSTONE
Today, a local expert steps on the coach for a full-day private tour of Yellowstone National Park — the first national park in the world! Some of the iconic sites may include: Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Spring, and Yellowstone Falls. Watch for bison, elk and possibly bears! Return to Canyon Village for an evening on your own. B, L
DAY 8: GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK/SNAKE RIVER FLOAT JACKSON
Travel south into the majestic Grand Teton National Park, where rugged mountains rise straight from the valley floor. Enjoy a memorable lunch at the Jackson Lake Lodge in the famous Mural Room, with panoramic views of the Tetons. Experience a gentle scenic float with the only rafting company allowed to operate within the confines of Grand Teton National Park. Overnight in the charming town of Alpine, Wyoming. B, L
DAY 9: SCENIC DRIVE/CHEYENNE, WY
Keep your eyes open this morning as you depart the Star Valley region. Watch for wildlife in roadside streams before stopping in Rock Springs for an included lunch, then journey across the wide-open landscapes of Wyoming, arriving in Cheyenne, the state capital, for the night. B, L
DAY 10: OLD TOWN MUSEUM/HAYES, KS
The route ventures into Colorado, with a special stop at Old Town Burlington. Nestled in the heart of Colorado’s Central Plains. The 6 1/2 acre historic site includes 21 fully restored buildings with authentic artifacts from the turn-of-the-century. Enjoy lunch and step back in time among the charming buildings and displays. Overnight in Hays, KS. B, L
DAY 11: THE GREAT PLAINS
Learn the rich history of the plains as you travel across Kansas on the journey home. B

We will send 3 key communications for your tour; “Get Ready” is your email confirmation and initial tour information sent upon registration, “Get Set” email will be sent about two months before departure, “Go” trip documentation mailing is sent via USPS 3-4 weeks before departure and will include your daily itinerary, luggage tags and final departure information.
Travel Protection is optional and highly recommended and can be purchased until the day before departure. We offer Travel Guard from AIG, which costs 8.5% of your tour, information about which will be sent with your Get Ready email.
Unless otherwise noted, your Sunrise Tour includes: Professional Sunrise Tour Director, meals as indicated, local step on guides including gratuity (international tour guide gratuity inclusion vary by tour), deluxe motorcoach transportation w/rest room, admission to activities and events as indicated, airfare from designated airports, transportation to/from designated airports from our convenient local pickup points*, luggage handling at hotels when available
We believe tipping is a personal and discretionary interaction between our guests and our staff. A typical gratuity for your Sunrise Tour Director and motorcoach driver may be $5-$7per person, per day on tour. Sunrise Shuttle drivers appreciate gratuities (suggest $5 per person) for excellent service as well. Our staff will not solicit gratuities or pass out envelopes.
We are happy to offer refreshments on most motorcoach travel days on tour. We recommend you bring a refillable water bottle to maintain healthy hydration.
If less than 4 people request a pickup point, we may ask that you choose another pickup point from which to join your Sunrise Tour.
If you would like to join a tour from a city not listed as a departure point, we would love to have you along! Please discuss arrangements with our friendly reservation team. From a departure city not listed, typical airfare will be +$100 higher than our published fare for domestic tours, and +$200 for international tours.
If you have a TSA precheck or Airline Rewards numbers, you MUST give those numbers to our reservations team at least 60 days before departure, otherwise they may not be applied.
Preferred seating may not be available on group air. In some cases, seats are not assigned until the airport. Your tour fare includes an economy seat on the flight; it does not include seat selection. Seat upgrades may be available at an additional cost.
To help make our tours the most comfortable in the business, we limit Sunrise Tours motorcoaches to 80% capacity, or 44 passengers on a coach built for 55. We reserve the right to amend this practice.
Your Tour Director will rotate seats on the motorcoach each day of your tour. A single fare does not guarantee two seats on the coach; you may be seated next to another friendly Sunrise Tours guest.
